On Friday, 26 August 2022, Foreign Policy Talks, in collaboration with BINUS University, will held the book launch of Jokowi’s Foreign Policy in the 2nd Term: Most Pressing and Strategic Issues by Thomas Noto Suoneto. The event brought together students, academics, and foreign policy enthusiasts to reflect on Indonesia’s diplomatic direction during President Joko Widodo’s second term. The discussion featured Dr. Eryan Tri Ramadhani from BINUS University as book reviewer and Elisabeth Ermuliana Kembaren as moderator.

The session will explore key insights from the book, highlighting Indonesia’s evolving foreign policy priorities under President Joko Widodo’s second term. Participants discussed strategic issues shaping Indonesia’s diplomacy in a changing regional and global context. It highlighted how Jokowi’s foreign policy balances pragmatic economic engagement with the country’s longstanding principles of non-alignment and regional leadership. Participants also discussed how Indonesia can sustain its diplomatic relevance while navigating intensifying great-power competition in the Indo-Pacific.

This event marked an important collaboration between academia and practitioners in understanding Indonesia’s evolving global role and reaffirmed Foreign Policy Talks’ commitment to fostering accessible, research-based discussions on foreign policy and international affairs.
