From 26 to 28 September 2022, Foreign Policy Talks collaborated with the National University of Singapore Society (NUSS) to organize a three-day business visit to Jakarta. The visit aimed to provide the NUSS delegation with a deeper understanding of Indonesia’s economic landscape, explore emerging business opportunities, and strengthen networks between Singaporean and Indonesian business communities.
Over the course of the visit, the delegation engaged with diverse sectors, ranging from government ministries and universities to startups and major companies.
The first day began with a series of meetings with government institutions, including the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, where discussions focused on Indonesia’s evolving tourism landscape and creative industry growth. The delegation then visited IDN Media, one of Indonesia’s leading digital media platforms, and concluded the day with a dinner and exchange with Indonesian Youth Diplomacy (IYD) members.
On the second day, the NUSS delegation met with BINUS University and HIPPINDO (Indonesia Retail and Tenant Association) for a networking session on business innovation and retail trends. They also visited Block71 Jakarta, a startup ecosystem and innovation hub, where they met Mr. Kwok Fook Seng, Singapore’s Ambassador to Indonesia. The dialogue explored the development of Indonesia–Singapore relations, focusing on cooperation in education and the economy. The day ended with an evening gathering with NUS Alumni at Block71, further strengthening personal and institutional connections.
The final day of the visit took the delegation to BSD City, where they visited Traveloka, Indonesia’s leading digital travel and lifestyle company, followed by Plug and Play Indonesia, an accelerator supporting startup growth and innovation. The program concluded with a closing dinner and reflection session, marking the end of a productive and inspiring three-day business mission in Jakarta.
Through this initiative, Foreign Policy Talks and NUSS successfully fostered greater mutual understanding and collaboration between Indonesian and Singaporean business communities. Both sides expressed hope that this partnership will continue to grow and lead to more meaningful exchanges in the future.
